What is a foster-based rescue?
A foster-based dog rescue is a non-profit organization that operates without a physical shelter or facility. Instead, foster-based rescues rely on a network of volunteers/fosters who open their homes to provide temporary care for the dogs while they wait for their forever homes. Foster families care for the dogs in their homes, as a part of their family. By opening their homes to dogs in need, foster families play a vital role in preparing dogs for successful adoptions and improving their quality of life.

Fostering is FREE
Jersey Dog Rescue covers the cost of all veterinary care, food, and will supply necessary items for the dogs while they are in a foster home. This means that foster families are not required to pay for necessary expenses for their foster dogs.
ALL you have to do is open up your home and supply the love and safety!
What is the foster application process?
Fill out the foster application here!
Your references and if applicable, your vet will be contacted.
Phone interview with a JDR representative to learn about you, any other pets/people who live with you, and what type of dog would thrive in your home.
Once you are approved, you will be contacted when we have a dog in need of a foster home that would fit your home.

I have a foster dog, now what?
Once you open your home to a foster dog we ask that you just focus on providing the love and care they need. You will spend this time getting to learn all about this dog. You'll let us know all about their personality and needs to help us match your foster dog with their forever family!
We do ask that fosters have some flexibility in their schedules to be able to take their foster dogs to the vet as needed and be available for events that JDR is at, and meet and greets with potential adoptive families. This helps your foster dog get exposure to the public!
